Our banking client is seeking a dynamic and versatile Director of Corporate Communications to lead both strategic and hands-on communication efforts across the organization. Reporting to the VP of Communications and partnering closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, this role combines high-level strategic planning with day-to-day execution across internal, external, and public-facing communication channels.

This is a hybrid position, located in Toronto (3-days on-site, 2 days WFH).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all internal and external communications, including executive, public relations, member, and employee messaging.
  • Support the CEO and Executive Leadership Team with communications planning, key messaging, speechwriting, and scripting for critical organizational updates and events.
  • Serve as communications lead for major initiatives, including mergers, change management, crisis response, and corporate strategy rollouts.
  • Write and edit diverse materials, such as internal announcements, press releases, executive messages, newsletters, AGM speeches, and campaign content.
  • Plan and support communications for company-wide projects, ranging from day-to-day tactical efforts to large-scale change initiatives.
  • Act as the organization’s crisis communications lead, crafting messaging during operational or reputational challenges.
  • Drive employee engagement and cultural initiatives in partnership with HR through internal campaigns and events.
  • Anticipate executive communication needs and take initiative in developing messaging without always requiring a defined starting point.
  • Ensure alignment of communications strategies with the organization’s overall strategic priorities.

Qualifications:

  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, including management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a related field is required — or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder communication projects from strategy to execution.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments, particularly with HR, IT, operations, and executive offices.
  • Adept in crisis communication and media relations.
  • Resourceful and independent; able to act as a strategic advisor and trusted business partner to executives.
