Position Summary

As the Infrastructure and DevOps Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for being both a practitioner and an evangelist for the culture shift from traditional development methods to DevOps while supporting and engineering our current data centre infrastructure. This role will ensure that hardware infrastructure roadmaps are up to date and executed on including lifecycle management of key infrastructure components.

This role will also ensure DevOps practices align to Medavie Blue Cross Automation and Architecture strategies while providing leadership, oversight and guidance to the process maturity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with Enterprise Architects to design and implement end-to-end solutions for our datacentre infrastructure.

  • Working with Enterprise Architects to design and implement end-to-end solutions that enable automated DevOps in Medavie IT.

  • Deliver on Lifecycle management of our Linux and Unix and other infrastructure.

  • Ensure monitoring and self healing strategies are implemented and maintained to proactively prevent client disruptions.

  • Align to Medavie Automation strategies and ensure automation is on the forefront of all activities.

  • Establish KPI’s to demonstrate maturity, efficiency and value to the client both internal and external.

  • Act as both a model practitioner and evangelist while working as part of the DevOps team to spread the adoption of DevOps in Medavie.

  • Work in an ever-changing, rapid pace environment to create bulletproof, expandable solutions, while maintaining current solutions.

  • Provide Leadership as an integral part of the DevOps team with complementary skills and common goals.

Required Qualifications

Education: University degree in Computer Science or similar program preferred.

Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of IT experience in service operations, and/or development projects

Other Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the environment and tools and technology used by infrastructure area.

  • Extensive knowledge of Unix and Linux infrastructure

  • Understanding of hardware and software systems components.

  • Strong understanding of technical infrastructure and development lifecycle.

  • Knowledge of DevOps best practices, industry trends, and solutions.

  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a busy technical environment

  • Good understanding of software development, build and testing  best practices

  • A high attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and key judgment skills

  • Working knowledge of Software Engineering Process

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in technologies such as Git, Nexus, AWS, Ansible, Databases, Linux, PowerSHell, Docker, CICD, Automation, Programming, Scripting, Networking, Integration and Testing.

Language Skills: Proficiency in English is required (written and spoken).  Proficiency in French is considered an asset.

Security Clearance: Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B).  This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.
