Your Opportunity
We have an opening for a Geotechnical Materials Engineer in Training role. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on engineering and geotechnical materials projects in a multi-discipline project team environment. Working in our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office, it is expected that your technical skills will help continue the growth of the materials testing and inspection team.
Your Key Responsibilities
Work closely with project managers and senior engineers on a multiple variety of small to large material testing and inspection projects
Planning and coordinating field and laboratory testing of construction materials
Ability to interact with a wide variety of clients from owners, developers, and contractors, to aggregate, hot mix asphalt, and ready mixed concrete producer
Client management and business development
Preparation and review of proposals and technical reports
Provision of Quality Control and Quality Assurance services
Site inspection/supervision
Become actively engaged in a role with a variety of trade associations
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Knowledge of relevant CSA and ASTM Standards related to materials and concrete would be an asset
A self-starter who is innovative and enjoy working in a team environment
The ability and willingness to travel as needed
Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record
Education and Experience
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering.
Eligible to register with Engineers Nova Scotia with a minimum of 0-3 years of experience in contracting/consulting.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
