Your Opportunity
Our Markham office is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our team of project managers, technical staff and multi-discipline specialists in the completion of road and transit projects. You will help support/lead a team of professionals in the design and construction of medium/large scale projects in road and transit based sector. The projects will be in various phases from conceptual planning, through design, construction, and handover.
Your Key Responsibilities
Responsible for contributing to large infrastructure projects of high complexity.
Support the management of multiple projects. Managing the approved scope, budget and schedule are of utmost importance.
Support in the development and management of the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
Leads the coordination between, and management of, key project stakeholders including the client and third-party utility providers to ensure execution of project scope within determined timelines per project schedule.
Supporting the team lead in the leadership and development of a team of engineers and technologists, providing mentorship to other staff.
Responsible for the review and, if P. Eng. certified, sealing of projects.
Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specification with construction documents.
Responsible for supporting invoicing, managing, and monitoring financial performance of project budgets using PM dashboard access.
Performs on technically complex projects and acts as a technical resource by providing guidance to other team members.
Liaise with clients, agencies, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals.
Stays up to date on regulatory changes and may establish working relationships with regulatory officials. May write and negotiate proposals as project issues arise with clients or reviewing agencies.
Lead/Chair meetings with stakeholders and take detailed minutes.
Developing and maintaining positive and professional relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, competitor/teaming partners, and potential recruits.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as good relationship building skills with respect to your interactions with team members, clients, and contractors.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word and Excel is required.
Experience in AutoCad, Civil 3D, or MicroStation, InRoads and other design software will be considered an asset.
Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines while working independently.
A strong work ethic with the desire to excel and to achieve.
Willingness to learn and a motivated team player.
Education and Experience
5-10 years of experience in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or equivalent experience.
Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent degree, Civil Engineering Technology diploma or university degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or approved equivalent combination of experience and education
Registered Member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario PEO or with The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians, eligible to register.
Project Management Professional Designation PMP is an asset.
Position will be full-time hybrid environment.
