Job Title: Senior Payroll Analyst

Work Arrangement: Hybrid. The first three months will be spent in the office. After probation, it will be one day in the office on the week when there is no payroll and two days in the office on the week when there is payroll.
About the Role:
We seek a highly skilled and experienced Senior Payroll Analyst to join a dynamic hospital team in East York. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely payroll processing for unionized employees while supporting ongoing Workday system optimization and team leadership initiatives. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll compliance in a healthcare setting, experience managing or mentoring payroll staff, and proven expertise using Workday HCM/Payroll.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee full-cycle biweekly payroll processing for a large unionized hospital workforce.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, union agreements, CRA regulations, and employment standards.
Supervise and mentor payroll staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
Support Workday payroll configuration, reporting, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Review and validate payroll inputs and outputs, including timesheets, retroactive payments, benefits deductions, and garnishments.
Prepare and analyze payroll reports, reconciliations, and audit documentation.
Lead and participate in payroll-related projects like process automation and Workday enhancements.
Provide expert-level guidance on payroll issues, ensuring employees receive accurate and timely payments.
Qualifications:
5+ years of progressive experience in payroll, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
Experience processing payroll for large unionized environments; a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
Proven experience managing or mentoring payroll staff.
Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll and HCM is essential.
Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and best practices.
PCP certification (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) required/working towards it.
