Agilus is recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer in the Engineering Consultancy Industry in Calgary, Alberta.
Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for all aspects of oil and gas electrical engineering project scope, procurement activities, and for the mentorship of more junior/intermediate staff
A typical day:
Execute Engineering Tasks: Perform detailed engineering calculations and design work, with specialized expertise in Electrical Heat Tracing (EHT) and related systems.
Quality Assurance & Documentation: Review, validate, and ensure the quality of engineering documents and deliverables in alignment with company standards.
Mentorship & Team Development: Guide and support junior and intermediate engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.
Policy & Process Compliance: Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to engineering policies, procedures, and systems across projects.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders—including other disciplines, fabrication shops, and construction teams—to enhance integrated design and manufacturing processes.
Project Lifecycle Involvement: Contribute to design methodologies throughout the project lifecycle, participate in major reviews (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA), and manage resolution of action items.
Successful candidates will have:
Registered P. Eng in Alberta.
A minimum of 10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience with strong oil and gas background (such as gas plants, wellsite’s, oil batteries, liquid gathering and handling facilities). EPCM background is an asset.
Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence decisions and work effectively across cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams.
Bring hands-on experience in supporting field start-ups, plant operations, and troubleshooting complex systems.
Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft office.
Must have a passion for learning and understanding new industries and projects.
