Performance Audit Co-op Student

The Auditor General of Nova Scotia is an officer of the House of Assembly, nonpartisan and independent of government. The Auditor General’s mandate, authority, and responsibilities are established under the Auditor General Act. This mandate includes providing opinions on government financial reports and conducting performance audits of public sector operations. Through this work, the Auditor General supports the House of Assembly in holding government accountable for the management of public funds and contributes to the effectiveness of the public sector. Under the supervision of senior auditors, the performance audit co-op student supports the planning and execution of performance audits. This work may involve analyzing business processes, assessing compliance with policies and legislation, identifying audit findings, and contributing to audit documentation and analysis. As a member of an audit team, you’ll engage directly with provincial government organizations, adding value and gaining meaningful, hands-on experience. Limited travel within Nova Scotia may be required
You are motivated and enthusiastic, with a strong academic record and a keen interest in pursuing your CPA designation. You communicate effectively - both in writing and in conversation - and are comfortable building relationships with clients and colleagues alike. You’ve demonstrated the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines, and you thrive both working independently and as part of a team.
You are currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree program with a major in accounting and are in your third or fourth year of study, returning to school for at least one more term. You are on track to complete all prerequisites for admission to the Canadian CPA Professional Education Program and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
