310-FARM is the first point of contact for Agriculture & Irrigation’s programs and resources. Reporting to the Manager of Rural Programming, the Resource Agent is a critical communication link between Albertans and the Department’s programs and resources. The Resource Agent assesses inquiries and disseminates accurate responses or redirects queries. Resource Agents interact with farmers, ranchers and Agri-processors, agricultural industry clients, the public and other government departments to ensure high quality client service. This position entails a thorough knowledge of the Department, government, and industry programs and resources.
Your demonstrated client service skills allow you to concisely communicate with clients on platforms, such as phone or email. Your capacity to transfer knowledge to clients and colleagues in a fast-paced, agile environment is critical to success in the position. Your ability to independently work while coordinating with a team enables continued success in the role. The ability to utilize various communication skills and techniques is required to deal with complex clients.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following competencies:
Minimum Recruitment Standard for Administrative Support 5 classification: High school diploma and three years of related experience.
Equivalency: Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of:
• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education; or
• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience.
Assets will be considered as follows:
• Experience working within the agriculture industry
• Experience working in a client service environment such as call centres.
• Expertise with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook and Excel)

Division/ Branch: Trade, Investment and Food Safety/ Rural Economic Development - AGI
This position reports to the JG O’Donoghue Building in Edmonton and works a 36.25-hour week, Monday to Friday (8:15 am to 4:30 pm). Operations out of Agriculture & Irrigation offices across Alberta will be considered as capacity allows.
Please note that this position will be based at one of the locations listed above, to be determined later in the process based on the successful candidate’s preference.
