We are working with a leading public sector organization to hire an experienced Contract Specialist for a 1-year contract. This role will support a major capacity improvement project valued at $1.5B, providing contract administration expertise across a range of construction, design, engineering, and professional services agreements.
You will play a critical role in ensuring proper management of high-value contracts, supporting payment processes, administering contract changes, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in construction or infrastructure to further grow their expertise on a career-defining project.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Administer large, complex, and high-value contracts related to infrastructure construction and professional services.
- Manage payment processes, change orders, and budget monitoring activities.
- Draft, review, and maintain contract documentation, ensuring compliance with project requirements and internal policies.
- Conduct quantitative expenditure analysis and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Liaise with internal teams, vendors, and project stakeholders to support the commercial management of contracts.
- Apply knowledge of contract law, procurement processes, and Progressive Design-Build (PDB) contracts.
- Support financial tracking, reporting, and contract close-out activities.
Qualifications and Skills
- 2–5 years of direct experience in contract administration, preferably within construction, infrastructure, or large-scale engineering projects.
- Strong working knowledge of contract law, construction contract administration principles, and payment processes.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with procurement and materials management systems is an asset.
Education
- Education background in Quantity Surveying, Construction Law, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
Nice-to-Haves
- Professional certifications such as MRICS (Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) or PQS (Professional Quantity Surveyor) are considered strong assets.
