Seniors, Community and Social Services provides supports for seniors, families and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, continuing care, financial supports, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. This ministry supports Albertans through a person-centered, integrated service delivery model that recognizes the unique circumstances, experiences and strengths of individuals and families.

 

 

The Delivery Services Division is working to help better connect Albertans to programs and services and to ensure Albertans have access to the right services at the right time through our contact centers.

Role Responsibilities

The Ministry of Seniors, Community and Social Services is focused on service excellence within social-based programming and service delivery in Alberta. An Integrated Service Delivery (ISD) model has been created for Albertans to be able to access information and support for social -based programs and services via the Alberta Supports Contact Centre. The focus of the ISD model is to ensure consistent information and levels of services are delivered to clients regardless of the service delivery channel used.

As an Alberta Supports Coordinator, you will champion this ISD model by working at the Alberta Supports Contact Centre.

The Alberta Supports Coordinator is the first point of contact for Albertans accessing social-based programs & services. In this position, you will assess Albertans with varying circumstances and needs and determine the social-based programs and services suitable for them.

To be successful in this role you will require excellent assessment, time management, communication and problem solving skills combined with the ability to make sound decisions under short timelines. Must have strong computer skills and being proficient in Microsoft365 is essential.

Your ability to provide service excellence and de-escalate sensitive situations is also a requirement of this role.

Systems Thinking: We are looking for candidates who will consider the bigger picture, looking across Human Services and potential service providers to find supports and services that meet the client's needs.


Creative Problem Solving: Creativity and flexibility will be very important to success in this role. Candidates will need to be willing to try new things and have the skills to take calculated risks and think outside the box.


Building Networks: As we continue to move towards our citizen centered approach, candidates will need to build networks and work with internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis. This includes clients, ministry staff, community resource partners, and other partners.

 

Qualifications

 

Two-year Diploma or Degree in a related field; no experience required; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education


The following Assets will be considered:

  • 1 year of related experience working with diverse populations, providing customer service excellence, assessing their needs and providing service direction is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with keyboarding and computer systems (Microsoft 365) is required.
  • Experience with web based computer systems (e.g. Compass, TOI, CCIS) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with social based programs
  • Experience in arranging supports for vulnerable individuals.

Notes

 

Hours of work are 36.25 hours weekly. Current available shift times for this position are: 

  • 11:45 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. (this shift pays a shift differential)
  • 10:15 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

 

This competition will be used to fill permanent vacancies. This competition may be used to fill future permanent or temporary vacancies, across the Government of Alberta, at the same or lower classification level.

 

Candidates who are successful in the selection process will be placed in a Talent Pool. This competition will be used to create an eligibility list of qualified candidates to fill upcoming opportunities as vacancies arise.  Should you qualify, your resume is added to a qualified list for consideration for other opportunities at the same or lower classification levels.
