Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Credit and Collections Manager to join a dynamic team in the transportation and logistics sector. This position provides the opportunity to lead a team in optimizing credit and collections processes, while overseeing payment collection and credit management strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and manage payment collection goals for the department.
  • Monitor and collect past-due payments through client outreach via phone and email.
  • Ensure accurate and timely collection of payments, resolving account discrepancies when necessary.
  • Review accounts, payment history, and credit profiles to develop optimized repayment terms.
  • Perform account and payment reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain up-to-date aging reports, minimizing discrepancies and identifying uncollectible amounts.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve billing disputes to facilitate prompt payments.
  • Manage the customer database to ensure accurate and reliable billing information.
  • Conduct credit checks for new clients onboarding, following company protocols.
  • Identify and escalate delinquent accounts for external collection if required.
  • Suggest improvements to accounts receivable processes, identifying areas for optimization.
  • Issue credit notes or invoice adjustments when necessary.
  • Collaborate with third-party collection agencies to recover outstanding receivables.
  • Lead and mentor team members, providing ongoing coaching and support.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong customer service and negotiation abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid understanding of the full accounting cycle.
  • Industry experience in transportation/logistics is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Advanced data entry and keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Goal-oriented with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in credit and collections, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business, or a related field is an asset.
  • Certification related to credit and collections is an advantage.
