This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned finance leader to join an accomplished leadership team and have a direct impact on the financial operations of a mid-sized, service-driven organization.
Seeking a Director of Finance to oversee the financial management, reporting, and strategic fiscal planning of the firm. This individual will lead the Finance, Billing, and Collections teams, and work closely with senior leadership to ensure sound financial stewardship and effective internal controls. The role reports directly to the COO and contributes to the firm’s long-term financial health and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all financial functions including general ledger, cash flow forecasting, partnership accounting, and financial compliance.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, along with internal reporting packages.
- Supervise the budget process, year-end closing activities, and external audits.
- Maintain compliance with relevant tax legislation and ensure timely filing of partnership and corporate tax returns.
- Monitor financial systems for optimization and ensure processes are current with industry best practices.
- Provide hands-on leadership to a multidisciplinary team across accounting, billing, and collections.
- Mentor team members and support career development through coaching, training, and performance reviews.
- Support strategic initiatives and advise the COO on financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures that promote operational efficiency and fiscal discipline.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation or equivalent required.
- 10+ years of senior-level financial management experience, ideally in a partnership-based or professional services environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing financial teams and cross-functional collaboration.
- Deep understanding of partnership accounting, tax planning, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
- High level of proficiency with Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Experience within a law firm or similar professional services firm is required.
