Role: Network & Security Administrator
Office Location: Toronto (Hybrid: 2 days a week on-site)
Salary: $80,000 - 100,000 per year
Role Overview:
The Network/Security Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of the organization computer network both on premise and the cloud. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. The person will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training where required.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning:
- Design network infrastructure and plan capacity.
- Assess, design, and implement security measures.
- Collaborate with consultants for design and implementation.
- Develop and maintain network policies, procedures, and training plans.
Acquisition & Deployment:
- Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Negotiate with vendors and contractors for network products and services.
- Research network products, services, protocols, and standards for procurement and development.
Operational Management:
- Manage security solutions (firewalls, anti-virus, intrusion detection systems).
- Oversee network hardware (routers, switches, hubs, UPSs) and cloud infrastructure security with third-party vendors.
- Ensure network connectivity and virtualization machine maintenance.
- Administer equipment upgrades, network asset management, and related documentation.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
- Perform server and security audits, system backups, and recovery.
- Monitor network performance and generate performance reports.
- Recommend and implement network improvements and repairs.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Position Qualifications:
- 5-7 years equivalent work experience.
- Strong experience with Cisco infrastructure
- Working knowledge of VMware, Microsoft, firewalls, routers and switches
- Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, Radware (Alteon Systems), Ivanti VPN and cloud security services.
- Knowledge of GCP is a great asset
- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and PCI compliance is preferred.
- Application support experience with Java, Oracle, Apache is an asset
- Certifications in Microsoft, VMWare, Cisco CCNP, Palo Alto, ISC2, Meraki, Cloud Security for GCP are assets
Work Conditions
- On-call availability for network and security support.
- Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
- Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
