Job Overview: We are seeking an Intermediate Data Analyst with strong SQL skills and experience in data visualization tools to support the store operations domain of a leading retail organization. The analyst will work closely with the Senior Manager of Analytics to gather business requirements, analyze data sets, and develop automated solutions that enhance data-driven decision-making. The role will be fully onsite 5 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirements Gathering & Documentation: Work with the Senior Manager of Analytics to understand business needs, gather functional and technical requirements, and document key insights.
- SQL Querying & Data Analysis: Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from various sources.
- Data Visualization & Reporting: Develop dashboards and reports using Tableau and Power BI to present insights in a meaningful way for stakeholders.
- Automation & Process Improvement: Build automated reporting solutions to streamline data querying and visualization processes.
- Collaboration & Communication: Engage with key stakeholders to interpret business needs, provide data-driven recommendations, and ensure solutions align with company objectives.
- Retail Data Insights: Leverage retail industry knowledge (if applicable) to identify trends and patterns that drive operational improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Intermediate SQL proficiency – ability to write and optimize queries efficiently.
- Experience with data visualization tools – strong hands-on experience with Tableau and Power BI.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills – ability to work with large datasets and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills – ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and effectively convey findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven experience in requirements gathering and documentation.
- Retail industry experience is a strong asset, particularly in store operations analytics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automation tools or scripting (Python, R, etc.) is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, Google BigQuery) is beneficial.
- Knowledge of data governance and best practices in data management.
