Being one of the top 5 Commercial Banks in North America and a leading provider of Asset Based Lending (“ABL”) financing, BMO’s North American ABL practice has more than 100 professionals with expertise in originating, structuring and syndicating financing solutions. By undertaking an advisory approach and leveraging the capabilities of the entire Bank, BMO offers catered ABL solutions for clients across the middle market, private equity / sponsor and capital markets segments.

We are currently seeking a Senior Director to facilitate ABL growth initiatives for the Bank through business development and excellent management of key client relationships. As one of the senior members of the line of business, this position will be responsible for origination activities in the region, with a significant focus on business development and new transaction execution.

The individual will engage in a wide range of financing scenarios which will include, but not limited to, refinancing, mergers and acquisitions, growth and expansion initiatives, as well as recapitalizations and restructuring.

  • Leads and executes business development and marketing plans to that business goals are achieved or exceeded.
  • Provides strategic input for existing and prospective customers into business decisions as a trusted advisor.
  • Makes recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and new initiatives, based on an in-depth understanding of the Bank and the ABL line of business.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations, financing guidelines and Bank policies.
  • Advises on origination strategy based on a deep understanding of the market, relevant industry verticals, market competitors, client needs and business growth opportunities.
  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Develops the business case with underwriting team by identifying opportunities, needs, analysing potential options and assessing expected return on investment.
  • Recommends business priorities, advises on resource requirements and develops roadmap for strategic execution.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and training for portfolio and underwriting teams, including credit structuring, industry analysis and risk rating assessment.
  • Network with industry contacts to gain competitive insights and best practices, with accountability for developing relationships with relevant ABL industry associations, partners, advisors and suppliers. Coordinates the management of relevant ABL transaction and tombstone databases; ensures alignment and integration of data in adherence with data governance standards.
  • Manages the assigned complex portfolio in a timely and precise manner.
  • Directly manage the annual review process, interim reviews, specified quarterly reports and resolution of exceptions.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and ensure adherence to prescribed policies and procedures and overall safety of the Bank’s position.
  • Leads the execution of operational programs; assesses and adapts as needed to ensure quality of execution.
  • Acts as the primary ABL contact for clients on transaction related questions such as product information, pricing, implementation timeframes and requirements.
  • Gathers data to advance sale process and completes all required documentation.
  • Leads and coordinates team in pre-sales activities such as pitch preparation, client and industry research, preparation of prospect and client files for further action.
  • Tracks implementation requests to keep the process on track with timelines.
  • Tracks Internal reports and recommends improvements to sales support materials based on findings and feedback.
  • Provides research and data gathering to sales team to facilitate solution to the client’s/prospect’s business and needs.
  • .Maintains current client information on Bank system/files to ensure client history is accurate and complete.
  • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as the ABL specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • If a Credit Qualifiable job, Credit Qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills according to the established qualification standards.
  • Demonstrated history of successful business development, including ability to network in external markets
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant industry verticals and market’s competitive environment
  • Experience in contact negotiations with both clients and legal counsel
  • Experience drafting responses to complex RFPs
  • Experience with Sales Strategy and Sales referral process development

Les salaires varieront en fonction de facteurs comme l’emplacement, les compétences, l’expérience, les études et les qualifications pour le poste et pourront inclure une structure de commissions. Les salaires pour les postes à temps partiel seront calculés au prorata du nombre d’heures travaillées régulièrement. Pour les rôles à commission, le salaire susmentionné représente la cible de BMO Groupe financier pour la première année au poste.

La rémunération totale offerte par BMO variera selon le type de rémunération associé au poste et peut comprendre des primes de rendement, des primes discrétionnaires ainsi que d’autres avantages et récompenses.
