Our client, a leading company in the food and beverage sector, is seeking a highly skilled Controller to oversee financial operations for two of its facilities in the GTA. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role will lead a team of six professionals and play a key role in financial reporting, operational analysis, cost accounting, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management: Provide guidance and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering a high-performance culture through coaching, goal-setting, and professional development.
- Financial Oversight: Oversee financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in month-end close processes, variance analysis, and reporting packages.
- Operational Collaboration: Work closely with Operations and Supply Chain to drive efficiency and ensure accurate reporting on yield, labor costs, SKU mix impacts, and inventory trends.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement strategies to enhance efficiency within accounting processes, shifting focus toward high-value financial insights.
- Cash Flow & Working Capital: Monitor cash flow, working capital, and key financial metrics to support business decision-making.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Establish and maintain robust financial controls, ensuring regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison for Treasury, intercompany divisions, and external auditors, facilitating financial reviews and reporting obligations.
What You Bring:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, or CA) with 10+ years of post-designation experience.
- Strong background in a manufacturing environment, ideally within food processing.
- Proven expertise in operations accounting, standard costing, and financial analysis.
- Solid knowledge of Canadian GAAP and ability to interpret and apply financial regulations.
- Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to provide actionable insights.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems.
- Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
