We are working with a Federal government client seeking an Operations Support Specialist to join their team on a 6- month contract!

The Support Specialist will be working with the hardware services team to provide assistance with an upcoming Windows 11 project.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a storage facility for new and old computer/laptop hardware, and parts to provide one point access for the department.
  • Test and evaluate all equipment received according the standards.
  • Place service call to different service provider for equipment which needs to be repaired or replaced.
  • Send to surplus equipment which is no longer functioning and it’s not repairable or it’s considerable to expensive to repair, obsolete and no longer being used and doesn’t meet the standards.
  • Log and monitor movement of IT equipment sent to surplus, repairs or on loans. Control all “travel” equipment (Data Entry).
  • Pickup, and/or deliver equipment to different buildings and users in the NCR.
  • Use custom off the shelf software such as MS-Word, MS-Excel, in order to create reports or documents.
  • Provide support and recommendation to teams of technicians and 16 000 users.
  • Install standard Images on PC’s, laptops and tablets before distribution.
  • Wipe/clean returned equipment before returning to inventory.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 7 years of experience working as an Operations Support Specialist.
  • Experience providing systems administration and systems operations support.
  • Experience performing software upgrades and applying patches.
  • Experience monitoring computer workload trends and making adjustments to ensure optimum utilization of computer resources. 
  • Experience in providing customer interface to ensure requested changes are implemented.
