Correctional Peace Officer 2 - $30.92 to $36.65 per hour ($2,396.62 to $2,840.16 bi-weekly)
Alberta Corrections’ Custody Operations Branch operates ten custodial centres across the province for adult and youth corrections:
Alberta’s Community Corrections Branch operates Youth Attendance Centres in Calgary and Edmonton. Correctional Peace Officers at these centres are involved in working with youth in a community correction setting. Roles provide supervision, program delivery and support to successfully reintegrate youth back into the community.

The Correctional Services Division is looking for positive role models that are mature, confident, self-motivated and reliable with cultural and community awareness to join their teams!
As a Correctional Peace Officer, you will be a valued member of a team that is essential to maintaining the safety and security of a centre. You will perform a variety of security functions to ensure the care and custody of offenders while also ensuring the safety of centre staff and the public. In this environment, you will monitor inmate movement, conduct patrols and counts, manage behaviour, complete searches and complete administrative duties associated with the Correctional Peace Officer role, including report writing and data entry.
As you will be working directly with inmates to provide support and guidance and act as a positive role model, developing an in-depth knowledge of behaviours and personalities is fundamental to succeed in this role.
You will be highly motivated to work with inmates and thrive in a demanding and stressful work environment. Well-developed interpersonal skills, sound judgment and a professional demeanor are essential to this position. You must have the ability to function effectively in a team environment and possess critical thinking skills. Well-developed verbal and written communication, along with basic computer skills are necessary to ensure success in this position. Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage conflicts effectively are also essential.

To perform the full scope of the role, the position requires employees to don Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and to be clean-shaven where the face piece of the equipment seals to the skin of the face. Closing Statement
Candidates who are successful in the selection process will be placed in a Talent Pool. The number of positions to be filled has not been identified at this time. This competition will be used to create an eligibility list of qualified candidates to fill current and future vacancies for wage and permanent Correctional Peace Officer positions.
Wages/casual/on-call positions have no guaranteed hours of work. Public transportation is limited; a personal vehicle will be required to access many of the centres.
