Our global client working within Philanthropic Fundraising Services is hiring for a Director of Philanthropy to join their team on a full time, permanent position. This is an exciting opportunity working in a hybrid working model, 3 days onsite in Toronto.
Our client is dedicated to advancing groundbreaking research in fields such as biology, cancer research, space exploration, and physics. As they embark on a comprehensive global campaign, we are seeking a passionate and strategic fundraising professional to expand their philanthropic efforts and drive revenue growth.
Position Overview
The Director of Philanthropy will lead fundraising initiatives in Toronto and surrounding areas, managing a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects. This role is instrumental in identifying, cultivating, and securing major gifts to support the organization’s ambitious campaign goals. The ideal candidate is a results-driven fundraiser with a strong track record in securing major gifts, donor engagement, and volunteer management.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Relations
Cultivate and steward relationships with individual and corporate donors.
Identify and pursue new fundraising opportunities.
Manage and maintain donor records using Raiser’s Edge.
Collaborate with the communications and events teams to enhance donor engagement.
Secure at least $1M in annual revenue by Year 2, contributing to multi-million-dollar campaign goals.
Conduct discovery meetings with donors, maintain ongoing outreach, and invite prospects to events.
Support writing, polishing, and personalizing proposals and donor reports.
Devise innovative engagement strategies for current and new donors.
Volunteer Engagement
Partner with volunteers to enhance fundraising initiatives.
Recruit, train, and motivate volunteers to support campaign efforts.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising, with a strong emphasis on major gifts.
Proven ability to close large major gifts from donors.
Strong relationship-building, communication, and leadership skills.
Experience managing volunteers and engaging donors.
Proficiency in MS Office and donor management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge or equivalent CRM).
Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about fundraising.
Skill in developing and implementing successful strategies for the identification,
cultivation and solicitation of donors
