A dynamic and fast-paced Transportation company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will support financial reporting, analysis, and general accounting functions, providing an excellent opportunity for growth and professional development.
This is a full-time, permanent role that offers competitive compensation, paid benefits, 3 weeks' vacation, and more! Additionally, this position follows a hybrid work model, with three days per week required on-site at our client's Burlington office.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the oversight and administration of core accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, and the general ledger.
- Contribute to month-end and year-end closing activities, such as preparing journal entries, accruals, and financial reports.
- Generate and assess financial statements, including profit and loss reports, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries, ensuring adherence to GAAP (ASPE) and company regulations.
- Assist in financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to aid strategic decision-making.
- Facilitate both internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
- Participate in daily treasury operations and cash flow forecasting.
- Conduct financial analysis and reporting as needed by management.
- Handle the preparation of HST/QST filings and other regulatory, tax, and corporate compliance documentation.
- Oversee fixed asset management and depreciation schedules.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial close processes on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Develop and refine accounting policies and procedural guidelines.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience.
- Extensive experience with ERP systems and financial reporting.
- Exceptional analytical skills, problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- CPA certification is a plus.
