Airworthiness Specialist at CAE supports the Senior Design Engineer by managing airworthiness activities for aircraft fleets, such as the NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) CT156 Harvard fleet. Their responsibilities include configuration management, risk management, maintenance program reviews, and technical problem resolution. They ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations, provide technical support, and assist in project management and technical investigations.

The role we are offering you:

  • Perform configuration management activities as required, including tracking of repair and modification status, configuration audits and technical documentation control.
  • Review changes to the approved maintenance program, assess for airworthiness impacts and applicability to the NFTC fleet.
  • Support Risk Management activities and procedures, monitoring and reporting required Risk Management activities to the SDE, processing deviations to the approved maintenance schedule when required.
  • Maintain familiarity with Acceptable Technical Organization (ATO) processes and work instructions and assist in revising materials when required to ensure compliance with the Technical Airworthiness Manual (TAM).
  • Review service documentation from various Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and disseminate appropriately through engineering workflow process.
  • Conduct activities in support of In-Service Monitoring Programs.
  • Assist in technical investigations.
  • Provide project engineering / project management support for various ongoing ATO led projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Adhere to ATO processes and procedures and ensure compliance with the TAM.
  • Work closely with other ATO members to maintain airworthiness of NFTC fleets.
  • Work alongside engineers, technologists, technicians, and management on a day-to-day basis.
  • Provide technical aircraft maintenance support.
  • Support the SDE as required, including performing acting SDE duties when SDE is absent.
  • Report on ATO project progress, track milestone completion and communicate schedule and budget risks to ATO management.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor of Engineering or have the equivalent knowledge or experience.
  • Familiarity with DND Airworthiness Program and the Technical Airworthiness Manual (TAM).
  • Project management experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, aircraft manuals, service bulletins, Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) and Airworthiness Directives (ADs).
  • Experience with technical writing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Candidate must successfully pass a security evaluation per the requirements of the Controlled Goods Directorate of Canada and to CAE being able to obtain all necessary re-transfer authorization in compliance with US ITAR regulations
