About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established design-build and custom construction organization, is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join their leadership team. This is an opportunity to play a strategic and hands-on role within a people-focused company that values craftsmanship, collaboration, and long-term relationships.
As the financial leader of the organization, you will work closely with the General Manager and cross-functional leaders to support business growth, operational excellence, and financial stability. Your expertise will directly influence budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and overall business performance in a dynamic construction environment.

Your Responsibilities
- You’ll oversee the full accounting function, including financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and compliance activities
- In this role, you’ll provide financial guidance and strategic insights to the General Manager and senior leadership team
- You’ll lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards
- You’ll manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial performance reporting
- In this role, you’ll support construction operations through accurate job costing and Work in Progress reporting
- You’ll strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes to support operational efficiency and risk management
Skills and Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, including senior-level finance leadership experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, CPA designation considered an asset
- Strong understanding of general ledger functions, financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end/year-end close processes
- Experience working within the construction, renovation, or project-based industry preferred
- Advanced proficiency with accounting software and financial reporting tools
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities across all levels of an organization
