Agilus is recruiting for a Applications Engineer in the EPCM industry in Calgary, Alberta.
Our EPCM client is seeking an Applications Engineer to support proposal development and engineering activities for oil & gas processing equipment. The role involves process simulation, equipment sizing, technical documentation, estimating, and collaboration with multi-discipline teams. Working closely with senior engineers, fabrication groups, vendors, and clients, you will help deliver accurate proposals, high-quality engineering packages, and optimized technical solutions for global energy projects.

A typical day:
Perform process simulation and equipment sizing (HYSYS/ProMax), including heat & material balance development.
Prepare PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, line sizing calculations, and related process documentation.
Support proposal preparation with engineering calculations, estimates, and technical inputs.
Participate in client communications, design reviews, and cross-disciplinary coordination sessions.
Review specifications and ensure alignment with client requirements and applicable industry codes.
Select control valves, PSVs, and buyout equipment; issue RFQs and evaluate vendor submissions.
Review fabrication drawings, assist with 3-D model reviews, and support shop teams in resolving design issues.
Analyze material needs, gather vendor pricing, and prepare cost estimates for vessels, piping, and structural assemblies.
Successful candidates will have:
5+ years of Applications Engineering experience within an EPCM or fabrication environment in oil & gas.
Strong proficiency with process simulation tools (HYSYS, ProMax).
Knowledge of industry standards, design codes, and best practices.
Ability to manage competing deadlines while producing high-quality technical work.
Strong written communication skills, including editing and document preparation.
Proficiency with MS Office, Bluebeam, Acrobat, and related engineering software.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of technical and leadership staff.
Adaptable and comfortable working in dynamic, shifting project environments.
