Job Description:

Fanshawe College is seeking interested and experienced interior design professionals to teach part-time in the Bachelor of Interior Design (BID) program in the School of Design.   


Reporting to the Program Manager, School of Design, part-time professors are responsible for teaching courses within the Bachelor of Interior Design program and developing an effective learning environment for students.   
Note: These are part-time temporary Faculty positions (up to 6 hours per week) starting September 2, 2025, and ending December 12, 2025.


Note: These positions are located at Fanshawe's main campus at 1001 Fanshawe College Blvd., London, Ontario

General Qualifications: 
•    Combination of excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success 
•    Excellent communicator (verbal and written)
•    Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners 
•    Strong technical/computer skills and familiarity with educational technologies are required 
•    Related industry work experience, previous college teaching experience and knowledge of curriculum design and student evaluations are assets 
•    Human-centric and sustainable design mindset
•    Demonstrated currency in industry software and tools
•    Proficiency with studio learning and digital fabrication tools (3D printer, CNC router, laser cutter, etc.); basic construction practices are assets
•    Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and leading innovation
•    Must be committed to teaching and mentoring students by engaging students in experiential education opportunities
•    The successful candidate must be willing to work closely with community partners and/or businesses to provide practical projects for students and to organize and participate in extracurricular projects (such as field trips, seminars, professional associations, events and conferences, etc.)  
 
Specific Qualifications:  
•    Qualified candidates must have a minimum of a graduate degree in Design (Master of Interior Design, Master of Fine Arts - Interior Design, Master of Architecture, Master of Design Technology, Master of Fine Arts - Design, Master of Design) with at least one degree in Interior Design and NCIDQ certification or, at least, have initiated certification preferred 
•    Candidates with a doctoral degree and/or LEED and/or WELL certification, college or university level teaching experience, and membership in professional organizations such as ARIDO, IDEC, IDC, ASID or IIDA are preferred 
•    Minimum 5 years' recent and relevant industry experience
