Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Validate useful lives, in-service dates, amortization and depreciation methods, and asset classifications.
  • Ensure additions, transfers, retirements, write-offs, and other asset changes are accurately reflected in financial records.
  • Prepare monthly software flip confirmation attestations and work with project teams to determine whether software is ready and available for its intended use.
  • Monitor projects approaching or exceeding expected in-service dates and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve exceptions.
  • Support impairment and write-off assessments by gathering relevant financial and project information and coordinating the accounting treatment of retired, abandoned, or impaired assets.
  • Prepare and process monthly journal entries while maintaining reporting integrity through effective financial controls.
  • Strengthen financial governance by applying best practices in forecasting, variance analysis, data quality, and reporting controls.
  • Support audit activities and communicate financial policies, guidelines, and best practices across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance and automate reporting processes, improving financial tracking, analytics, reporting accuracy, quality, and cycle times.
  • Support management with ad hoc reporting and financial analysis.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?  We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • You have at least three years of relevant experience in accounting, financial analysis, or project financial reporting.
  • You have an understanding of fixed assets, intangible assets, software capitalization, amortization, depreciation, and impairment concepts.
  • You have strong reconciliation, financial analysis, problem-solving, and business acumen.
  • You can consolidate large volumes of data from multiple sources and translate them into meaningful reporting and insights.
  • You have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VBA, Power Query, advanced formulas, and data modelling.
  • You have knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI.
  • You demonstrate strong attention to detail and can manage recurring monthly and quarterly deadlines involving multiple stakeholders.
  • You can work effectively in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment.
  • You bring a continuous improvement mindset and an interest in automating reporting, using AI tools to generate better insights, and reducing manual effort.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • You enjoy contributing in a collaborative, hands-on team environment.
  • It would be an asset if you have familiarity with banking and financial systems, including OBI, EGL, and PeopleSoft, or project portfolio management tools such as CA PPM.
