Job description

Requisition ID: 276361

Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.

Purpose of Job:

To create, lead, and deliver highly engaging, visually compelling video content that powers the Scotia iTRADE investor education strategy across multiple digital platforms.

This role leads the development of original, short-form video content for YouTube, Reels, tutorials, and campaigns – helping drive brand visibility, client engagement, and broader adoption of educational resources for self-directed investors.

As a key member of the education team, the Designer works autonomously and in close collaboration with subject matter experts, instructors, and business stakeholders to translate strategic learning objectives into best-in-class visual content. This includes owning the full production lifecycle – from concept and scripting support to filming, editing, motion graphics, and delivery – while upholding brand, accessibility, and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong editorial judgment, proven technical skills, and a creative mindset – confident leading production with minimal oversight, while also contributing to the long-term vision and innovation of iTRADE’s investor education ecosystem.

Major Accountabilities:

Lead Video Production & Editorial Ownership:

  • Lead the end-to-end production of original, high-impact short-form videos for investor education (YouTube, Reels, tutorials, explainers).
  • Manage all aspects of production independently: pre-production planning, lighting/audio setup, filming, editing, and motion graphics.
  • Elevate storytelling with animation, pacing, and design that supports key education goals.
  • Deliver polished, platform-optimized video content aligned to iTRADE’s brand standards.
  • Optimize content for accessibility and cross-platform publishing (captioning, readability, tone, clarity).

Strategic Content Development & Collaboration:

  • Provide creative direction and recommendations on content formats and delivery styles for investor learning paths.
  • Contribute original ideas to new content series, campaigns, and education initiatives across channels.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and guest experts to ensure content is timely, relevant, and aligned with investor needs.
  • Stay current on best practices in educational video production, social-first video formats, and emerging tools.
  • Experiment with new formats and storytelling techniques to engage evolving investor audiences (younger segments, mobile-first users).
  • Lead content repurposing and platform optimization efforts to maximize reach and impact
  • Collaborate with marketing and social teams to align video content with broader campaigns
  • Develop video content from ideation to creation for internal and/or external use to help grow iTRADE on demand video/digital content

Project & Production Management:

  • Manage video projects from concept to delivery under tight timelines with minimal direction.
  • Own technical aspects of production (lighting, sound, video quality)
  • Maintain and evolve an efficient video production workflow, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Ensure all produced content is compliant with relevant regulatory, legal, and accessibility standards.

Contribute to the effective functioning of Scotia iTRADE by:

  • Work closely with Manager, Client Education and effectively collaborate with internal iTRADE teams and Scotiabak to deliver a cohesive, consistent, and a ‘best in class’ education experience for clients.
  • Supporting the strategic goal of delivering a "best in class" investor education experience through high-quality video content.
  • Contributing creative ideas and content approaches to drive engagement and impact.
  • Demonstrating flexibility and ownership in delivering education priorities.
  • Developing and executing a meaningful Employee Development Plan.

Education / Work Experience / Designations:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a video designer, editor, or technical producer in a content, media, or creative services role.
  • Experience working across the full video production cycle, including camera operation and editing.
  • Courses and certifications in video editing software like Adobe Creative Suite are highly valuable; including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Animate, and Audition.
  • Ability to plan, film, edit (Adobe Creative Suite), schedule, and publish daily content across various social platforms –  such as YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok.
  • Strong portfolio of short-form video content (YouTube, Reels, social-first education or marketing) with familiarity of  designs to deliver educational concepts and creating video content to drive learning outcomes.
  • Support the design and execution of integrated media strategies, working collaboratively with partners, digital content teams, Marketing, as well as control partners in legal, privacy and compliance.
  • Prior knowledge of financial markets, online investing, the self0directed space and investor education is an asset.

Additional Candidate Requirements:

  • A proven track record of delivering results through a collaborative, inclusive style and process that respects all partners and their respective roles and interests, and builds the lines of communication and understanding throughout all initiatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple video projects in parallel and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and follow-through skills
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptable to evolving project requirements.
  • French language fluency is an asset.
