Scotiabank’s strong U.S. presence provides our clients an important bridge to this key global market for trade and investment flows across the Americas and the world. Global Banking & Markets provides a full range of investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. Our products include debt and equity financing, mergers & acquisitions, corporate banking, institutional equity sales, trading and research, fixed income products, derivatives, energy, foreign exchange and metals. We also cross-sell the full range of wholesale products and services offered by the Scotiabank Group. The Business Solutions & Initiatives team is tasked with the implementation of strategic business initiatives for GBM Finance; provide inputs on overall cross business best practices, process improvements and architecture. The GBM – Finance Senior Manager (Business Solutions & Initiatives) is responsible for helping manage Finance change for Capital Markets, Corporate Lending, and Group Treasury businesses. The role works closely with business stakeholders on change initiatives to manage future state expectations. The responsibilities include capturing current and future state processes, writing business requirements, resolving complex accounting issues, and working to develop end-user computing solutions for Finance stakeholders.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

Process Mapping & Optimization

  • Work hands-on with GBM Finance & Group Treasury as well as cross-functional teams to document current-state processes and identify opportunities for re-engineering to support future-state efficiency and effectiveness.

Business Requirements & Solution Design Partnership

  • Collaborate closely with Technology teams to articulate and validate business requirements that inform solution design, development, and implementation. Perform ad hoc forensic accounting and suggest effective solutions.

Stakeholder Engagement & Effective Communication

  • Serve as a strategic conduit between Finance and respective counterparts (such as Technology, Operations, Compliance, Liquidity, Risk, and others), ensuring business context is clearly communicated and tailored to the needs of diverse stakeholder groups.

Change Enablement & Transition Support

  • Support end-users through system and process transitions by providing coaching, facilitation, and clear direction to ensure readiness and adoption.

Workshop Facilitation & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Lead workshops, meetings, and demonstrations to engage stakeholders, align on objectives, and prepare teams for upcoming changes and initiatives.

Documentation & End-User Tool Enhancement

  • Collaborate with users to review and update support tools—including End-User Computing (EUC), SOPs, and working files—to align with new processes and enhance operational effectiveness.

Testing Coordination & Validation

  • Facilitate user testing activities, including test case development, parallel run execution, and results validation to ensure readiness for go-live.

Leadership Readiness & Strategic Sign-Off

  • Guide stakeholders through final readiness checkpoints and secure leadership sign-off, affirming organizational preparedness and strategic alignment.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 8+ years of Finance capital markets experience with analytical and problem-solving in the context of a Finance or Risk Management department with a product mix of securities, loans, and derivatives.
  • Excellent analytic and communication skills; candidate should be able to understand complex finance processes and be able to document and simplify the use cases and proposed solutions to executive leadership.
  • Hands-on experience in independently leading end-to-end finance change processes and projects, from a BSI perspective.
  • Experience working in or with Product Control.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a quantitative discipline; accounting certification (CPA, CMA) or other certification such as FRM or CFA would be an asset.
  • Graduate degree would be an asset.
  • Well-developed judgment, management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to deal effectively with a rapidly changing, complex business environment.
  • Good project/time management skills to manage multi-functional accountabilities through prioritization, delegation, motivation, conflict resolution, and the promotion of ideas.
  • Exposure to and/or experience with Alteryx, query languages such as SQL, and coding languages would be an asset.

What’s in it for you?

  • The opportunity to join a forward-thinking company surrounded by a collaborative team of innovative thinkers.
  • A rewarding career path with diverse opportunities for professional development.
  • Internal development to support your growth and enhance your skills.
