Supervisor - Federal Government Auxiliary Guarding

Job description

Ready to suit up as a Federal Security Supervisor

What matters most in a role like this is your ability to lead with confidence, stay alert, assess your surroundings, recognize potential risks and make sound decisions when situations change. Your leadership, communication, attention to detail and ability to remain composed under pressure will be key to your success.

As a Federal Security Supervisor, you’ll take on a dynamic leadership role supporting security operations across a variety of environments and situations throughout Vancouver Island. No two deployments are necessarily the same — you may be responsible for supervising security personnel, overseeing designated areas, controlling access, monitoring activity, maintaining operational standards and ensuring your team is prepared to respond professionally to changing situations.

This is an opportunity for experienced security professionals looking to take their career beyond traditional static security and into a leadership position. You’ll work in an environment where professionalism, vigilance, communication, accountability and strong decision-making truly matter.

You’ll collaborate with operational personnel, provide direction and support to your team, respond to changing environments and play an important role in maintaining safe and secure areas during critical events. The position may involve day, evening, overnight, weekend and emergency deployments, making flexibility, reliability and leadership essential.

If you thrive in environments where every shift can be different, your leadership and observations matter, and your ability to guide a team contributes to a larger operation, this could be the opportunity for you.

What's in it for you?

  • $27.50 per hour
  • Ad-hoc, casual/on-call opportunities with the flexibility to work when operational needs arise
  • Flexible scheduling with a variety of shifts and deployment opportunities
  • GardaWorld Academy — we invest in your development and support continuing education opportunities
  • Career growth opportunities within GardaWorld
  • Uniform provided at no cost
  • The opportunity to gain experience in a specialized federal security environment supporting important security operations

Responsibilities for Federal Security Supervisor

  • Supervise, lead and provide direction to security personnel during daily operations, deployments and emergent situations
  • Conduct shift briefings, assign duties and ensure team members are properly positioned and prepared to perform their responsibilities
  • Patrol and monitor designated areas to identify and respond to potential security concerns while maintaining oversight of team activities
  • Secure controlled areas and manage access to designated scenes and restricted locations, ensuring established procedures are consistently followed
  • Monitor active scenes and emergent events, assess changing conditions and provide direction to security personnel as situations evolve
  • Respond promptly and professionally to incidents and emergencies, taking appropriate action and escalating matters when required
  • Act as a point of contact between security personnel, operational leadership, law enforcement and other authorized personnel during incidents and deployments
  • Conduct and document supervisory checks to ensure security posts, personnel and procedures are meeting operational requirements
  • Identify potential risks or operational concerns and communicate recommendations to management or appropriate operational personnel
  • Support the onboarding, training and development of security personnel by reinforcing expectations, procedures and professional standards
  • Maintain a professional leadership presence while exercising sound judgment, discretion and strong decision-making in sensitive and high-pressure environments
  • Ensure incidents, concerns, staffing issues and other operational matters are properly communicated during shift handovers
  • Ensure established procedures and directions are followed to help preserve the integrity and security of designated areas

Qualifications for Federal Security Supervisor

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Must hold a valid BC Security Worker Licence
  • Must have a minimum of 12 months of recent security supervisor experience, gained within the past five years
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to complete detailed reports and documentation
  • Comfortable working day, evening, overnight, weekend and on-call shifts
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout Vancouver Island as operational requirements arise
  • Ability to remain alert and attentive while standing and walking for extended periods
  • Strong observation, judgment and decision-making skills
  • Professional, reliable and able to remain composed in changing or high-pressure environments
  • First Aid certification is considered an asset
  • Previous experience in law enforcement, corrections, military, peace officer, or other high-security environments is considered an asset
