JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for designing, developing, and implementing a comprehensive Digital Learning Strategy for the Public Works department, including developing communications strategies, and designing a departmental Employee Learning & Development Communications Platform.

Responsible for leading the adoption of new digital learning solutions and maximizing existing digital learning investments for the Department; and for applying, evaluating and improving programs, services, and projects utilizing a digital learning lens, in order to drive the Department’s digital learning transformation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A minimum of a university degree in adult education, instructional design, educational technology, or related field.

A minimum of five years of experience designing and developing digital learning solutions including experience in developing and implementing e-learning development tools, audio and video tools and graphic design tools. Experience developing and evaluating learning technologies and applications, using different multimedia authoring tools and learning and management applications, and in delivering training modules.

Desirable Qualification: Experience with using Cloud Based Learning Management Solutions
 

KNOWLEDGE

  • Application of instructional design and adult learning principles;
  • Knowledge of corporate computer software, including the Microsoft Office suite, various multimedia authoring tools and platforms, and content management applications such as graphics, audio, and video editing software, and online presentation or learning software;
  • Strategies to adapt and/or repurpose existing course content into other formats;
  • Possess general knowledge of the corporation, departmental business requirements, policies and organizational structure;
  • Customer service delivery methodologies and skills;
  • Consultation methods and practices;
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

  • Ability to identify, review and recommend digital learning resources to include in online courses and eLearning initiatives;
  • Ability to work productively and successfully with diverse people and groups;

  • Strong oral, written and facilitation skills;

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
  • Personal Suitability: A passion for creating digital learning experiences and communicating their value
