ONxpress is seeking an experienced Planning and Interface Manager in the Fleet Maintenance program who will be a dynamic, multi-task, and collaborative professional with strong Railway expertise to lead the fleet maintenance activities and identify and manage the interfaces between the various teams and work packages. 

The Planning and Interface Manager will be responsible to address the overall fleet planning and interface activities with regards to maintenance of rolling stock, assets, tools and equipment, and parts and material with a focus on liaison with the parent company and the client. The Planning and Interface Manager coordinates input and feedback from other teams to inform and plan fleet maintenance activities, to report the impacts of any changes to maintenance services, and to ensure issues are dealt with in appropriate timeline.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the interface and planning strategy for the execution and completion of fleet maintenance plan and strategy throughout the project life cycle with a focus on interface activities.
  • Actively manage and produce project schedules, providing visibility over the progress of work packages and milestones, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
  • Act as a liaison between maintenance teams, suppliers, and other relevant departments to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Continuously collaborate with Train Service Planning, Fixed Asset Maintenance, Train Crew, and other teams to ensure the effectiveness of procedures and business requirements.
  • Manage Revenue Vehicle Maintenance requirements, ensuring client approval and implementation into construction work packages.
  • Manage subcontractors for timely implementation and delivery of contract requirements, including the development and verification of plans, documents, and execution of works.
  • Work closely with other Operations and Maintenance teams to address the impact of maintenance activities on operations and ridership.
  • Ensure subcontractor deliverables meet the contract’s requirements and standards.
  • Identify project system interfaces through regular workshops with the client team.
  • Perform impact analysis for interface requirements and design changes, advising on variations to maintenance activities.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement and integration to achieve program objectives for scope, budget, schedule, quality, and sustainability.
  • Attend or chair meetings with the client and stakeholders to plan activities, including inspections and deliveries, for coordination, communication, and issue resolution.
  • Manage and offer real-time mitigation strategies and the interface resolution process to address and resolve risks and conflicts.
  • Provide regular reports to the Head of Revenue Vehicles on the progress of maintenance work, testing and approvals, and interface resolution issues and mitigation.
  • Manage drafting, development, and implementation of policies and processes regarding the management of fleet maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to maintenance plans, schedules, and interface communications.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment within the maintenance team and with other stakeholders to achieve common maintenance goals.

Qualifications

Education & Experience 

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline;
  • Demonstrated ability in achieving an integrated approach to delivering projects in the rail and transit industry;
  • Demonstrated experience with rolling stock management and maintenance; and have a clear understanding of key interdependencies between disciplines and projects in a rail program;
  • Minimum of 5 years as a lead project or program manager.

Required Skills

  • A highly driven and positive individual who can be an excellent representation of the interface management team;
  • Be able to think outside the box and be creative in identifying ways to bring teams together to get stakeholder buy-in to the importance of the interface management role;
  • Highly developed written communication and computer literacy skills to compile and develop professional, technical, and quality documentation of a complex nature; 
  • Proven ability to exercise excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to pre-empt and mitigate project risks;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and work productively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders; 
  • Influence multi-disciplinary teams and to be an effective team player;
  • Good command of spoken and written English; and
  • Able to communicate with different level of people in a multi-national project environment and motivate the project activities for timely delivery.
