Accountability
The Financial Analyst will report to the Head of Finance & Controlling and will be responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing, and reconciling all types of financial business reports during the Development phase and Operations & Maintenance phase. Forecasting accountability regarding financial impact against forecast and budget of the operations and maintenance departments.
If you have experience with revenue management, or revenue cost reconciliation, that would be highly preferred!
• Prepare & maintain monthly financial forecasting and variance analysis for the technical departments.
• Provide financial forecasting input into Application for Payment process.
• Collaborate closely with the Operations, Fixed Asset Maintenance and Revenue Vehicle Maintenance departments and/or other functional departments.
• Assist the technical workstreams in the planning process.
• Compile data from systems and provides analytics to drive business performance.
• Identify and recommend process improvements, with a focus on increased efficiencies, value-added analytics, and employee experience.
• Prepares data results reports, presenting and explaining findings to senior management and client.
• Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices.
• Other financial planning & analysis responsibilities as assigned.
Education
• Completion of a post – secondary school degree or diploma in Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
Experience
• Minimum 2 – 3 years of relevant experience in budgeting and forecasting
• Proven experience with forecasting methods and data analysis
• Excellent numeracy skills with an attention to detail
• Knowledge of Financial Planning & Analysis best practices

• Proficient with MS Excel (specifically, advanced formulas, pivot tables and charts) and MS Powerpoint
• Strong organization skills, detail-oriented, and time-management abilities
• Strong communication and stakeholder relationship skills
• Strong analytical skills – problem solving & solution oriented
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work collaboratively with a ‘can-do’ attitude
• Self-starter who is willing to roll up sleeves and takes initiative
• Willingness to gain a technical understanding of the railway
