JOB DESCRIPTION

About This Role

Multi-task position responsible to assist with collecting data and performing detailed accounting analysis to support the preparation of US income tax returns and quarterly US income tax provisions. The ideal candidate should assist with the preparation of company workpapers and performing detailed accounting calculations in support of US tax work-papers; Assist Tax Manager (Montreal);

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with bookkeeping/collecting data and performing detailed account analysis and compilation of work-paper documentation for US tax provisions and US tax returns.
  • Assist with preparation and analysis of quarterly and annual US tax provisions. Prepare financial statements.
  • Prepares and assists with the compilation of work-paper documentation for US income tax returns.
  • Assists and completes forms for tax filings.
  • Organizes and maintains tax records for special projects as assigned.
  • Ensures that the entities comply with installments and periodic quarterly tax payments, information reporting, and other taxing authority requirements.
  • Maintains and updates tax calendar.
  • Organizes and maintains tax records and conducts tax studies and special projects (Earnings and profits and cost base calculations)
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, interactive environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.COM) with Accounting major.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping is essential.
  • Knowledge or experience with HFM is a strong asset.
  • Minimum five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPA is an added benefit but is not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Ability to perform successfully in a fast paced, multi-task environment and meet compliance deadlines timely and independently.
  • Knowledge of HFM accounting systems.
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and write reports and business correspondence in both French and English is required.
