We are looking for a Facilities Technician to help support our growing operation which provides exemplary, highly coordinated primary health care in the right place, from the right provider, at the right time.

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities, the Facilities Technician will be responsible for upkeep and repair tasks of all EM/ANB Facilities in the Province. One of your main responsibilities will be to maintain our Facilities to ensure the buildings are safe for building occupants and properly maintained.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the Facilities Manager and Facilities Administrator
  • Handling basic repairs and maintenance to building exterior/interior.
  • Performing minor exterior maintenance, including but not limited to exterior building cleaning, minor repairs etc
  • Paint and fill gaps or crevices (on walls, sidewalks, interior floors lines etc.)
  • Undertake light installation or light carpentry (e.g. build/ install cabinets)
  • Do minor repairs or assist tradespeople with electrical, plumbing or HVAC repairs as needed
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them.
  • Undertake duties as assigned or emergency tasks (e.g. shoveling snow)
  • Identify and report the need for major repairs
  • Utilizing various tools to complete minor construction/ electrical/ plumbing tasks
  • Perform all job duties with a high degree of safety consciousness
  • Ensure quality of all work and adherence to building code
  • Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment including conducting scheduled maintenance, inspection and cleaning of mini splits, HVAC systems and generators.
  • Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary.
  • Preparing digital work orders and invoices
  • Regular travel will be required including some overnight travel.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Education Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent or Trade Certification
  • Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office Programs
  • Years of Experience Required: 10+
  • Valid minimum Class 5 driver’s license with clean drivers abstract
  • Solid experience with plumbing, carpentry and electrical systems is a must.
  • Bilingualism is not required but would be considered an asset.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • A willingness and ability to perform different tasks on a repetitive basis in a structured environment
  • A willingness to try new processes, work with changing production demands, and promote new ideas & suggestions for improvement
  • A desire to learn new skills and experiences
  • High degree of safety awareness
  • Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems
  • Basic math skills
  • Bondable
  • Good communication ability
  • Well-organized and apt in problem-solving
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience working as a laborer will be considered an asset
  • Experience working with any, or all, of the following trades, will be required:
    • Finish Carpentry
    • Rough Carpentry
    • Electrical
    • Plumbing
    • Roofing
    • Flooring Installation
    • Cabinet Installation
    • Painting
    • Mechanical Repair

The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Medavie employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
