Job description

As a Steel Trades Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering the training programs developed by the Steel Practice Lead for employees in the Welding & Fabrication and Mechanical Assembly departments, supporting them in the development of their technical and practical skills. More specifically, you will:

  • Deliver theoretical and practical training in welding and fabrication within the context of a shipyard undergoing significant transformation and expansion.
  • Assess employees’ competency development through theoretical and/or practical evaluations.
  • Participate in the updating and continuous improvement of theoretical and practical training content.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure continuity and effective transfer of skills in the workplace.
  • Stay current with technical and instructional best practices within your area of expertise.
  • Assess and certify employees’ competencies in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Coordinate the logistics of the various stages of the training process.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to training activities, such as managing attendance records, updating employee training files, preparing and issuing competency cards, ordering training materials and equipment, entering post-training data into the system, and other related duties.
