Join us and design your place with Stantec. Stantec's office in Ottawa, ON is currently seeking a Buildings Intermediate Mechanical CAD/Revit Technician/Technologist. This is a dynamic work environment where your abilities will strengthen and grow as you complete a diverse range of projects. Our team of interdisciplinary engineers works collaboratively with clients to design buildings and processes that are on track for safety, performance, and sustainability. Reporting to the Mechanical Team Leader the successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to: - Completing work under the supervision and guidance of a senior engineer. - Producing mechanical drawings in REVIT MEP and in AutoCAD. - Organizing and maintaining a design and CAD digital file database for each project; - Assist and mentor new drafters - Assisting in the design of building-related mechanical systems including HVAC, Hydronics, Plumbing, Fuels, Industrial Ventilation, Controls, and Fire Protection systems using applicable codes, standards, and reference materials. - Preparing detailed engineering design calculations. - Preparing contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction. - Writing reports analyzing mechanical problems and providing engineering solutions and recommendations. - Reviewing equipment selections, perform preliminary engineering calculations, and develop preliminary designs. - Facilitating and ensuring the quality of design, drawings and graphic work produced for the team; and ensuring that the projects' needs are met in terms of project work plan schedules and budgets; - Following production guidelines and project standards to Stantec and Client drafting guidelines. - Reviewing shop drawings and other contractor submittals for compliance with construction documents. - Performing field surveys for drawing developments, site reviews and as recorded drawings. - Communicating with other team members and become familiar with Stantec standards to complete assignments and projects in a timely manner as required by the Project Manager and Discipline Lead. The successful candidate will possess the following: - Graduate of a Technology/Technician diploma program from a recognized post-secondary institution. - 6 years of experience in drafting with AutoCAD and REVIT MEP in a related field. - Eligibility to apply for and receive PSPC Secret Clearance is required. Existing PSPC Secret or Reliability Clearance status is considered an asset. - Comprehensive knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit MEP for drafting and designing project documents. - Experience in design and drafting of HVAC systems including heating and cooling systems, air handling systems, exhaust systems, ventilation systems, hydronic systems; Plumbing systems including: domestic water systems, natural gas pipework, storm water systems; and sanitary systems. - Experience in designing fire suppression systems and industrial ventilation systems is considered an asset. - Knowledge and familiarity with National and Ontario Building Codes, and with associated standards, is considered an asset. - Effective communication skills are essential, including interpersonal and verbal abilities within the team environment - A team player, self-motivated and eager to learn - Must be well organized to be able to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments - Ability to travel within Canada may be required. - Current Driver's license is required.
