We are currently seeking applications for a Construction Team Lead; the role combines technical leadership, project delivery, business development, client management, and people leadership to support the strategic growth of our business. Key Responsibilities The role of Construction Team Lead will work closely with our Prairies and Territories Leadership as well as our discipline specific Team Leads (Major Projects, Bridges, Rail/Transit, and Roads). This is an exciting opportunity to bring forward new ideas, grow our team and build on our business center values of excellence, innovation, and people. This opportunity is ideal for a motivated individual who is a self-starter, passionate about working with people, high value of safety, and has a thorough understanding of civil construction with the following key responsibilities: People Leadership - Recruit talent, grow team members and support succession planning - Lead and supervise a team of engineers and technical staff to ensure projects’ needs are met in a timely and effective manner - Be responsible for Construction Team workload and resource planning. - Facilitate goal setting, coaching, and performance review with each of your team members - Stay abreast of industry trends, standards and thought leadership - Promote our strong safety culture, ensure this is at the forefront of our business and lead by example - Actively communicate with your team and be a conduit of information between BC Leadership, Senior Leadership, and the organization - Ensure corporate and BC requirements are met including mandatory training, safety requirements and professional development - Effective negotiating skills and demonstrated leadership in conflict resolution. Project Delivery & Technical Leadership - Follow established best practices, tools, templates and procedures for construction administration activities including processes for RFI and shop drawing review, site instructions, field review reports. - Understand and comply with regulations governing design professionals in the jurisdiction of the project. - Coordinate with project design teams during design phase to optimize design scope including work breakdown, deliverables scheduling, constructability, anticipated construction cost, appropriateness of construction systems, delegated design. - Coordinate with project design professionals, for successful delivery of construction phase professional services delegated to the Construction Administration Team. - Manage quality control and quality assurance processes for Construction Team tasks. - Have an understanding of projects that are in construction phase, along with their respective schedules, and liaise with the project/design teams to ensure adequate coverage and follow through with the needed field reviews and or related documentation and processes. Business Development - Build and maintain strong client relationships. - Contribute to fee proposal development related to tender, construction and post-construction services. - Build and maintain productive relationships with construction company partners. - Grow our client base and position in the market including work pertaining to active modes and sustainable mobility. Strive to establish our team as leaders in the industry - Assist with the development and implementation of quality management practices - Proactively look for ways to improve design delivery, quality, and efficiency Education and Experience - Professional work experience within the construction industry (including project manager, site superintendent, field services representative, contractor) may be considered. - 8+ years of progressive construction management experience. - Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing transportation projects. - Experience with municipal, provincial, and transportation agency clients.
