Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Health & Safety Specialist in the plastics manufacturing industry in Burlington, Ontario. The Health & Safety Specialist will support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of environmental, health, safety, and training programs. This position helps ensure compliance with applicable legislation, corporate standards, customer requirements, and ISO management systems while promoting a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, risk reduction, training, and continuous improvement initiatives. Total rewards: $80000.00 - $95000.00 annually Health & Dental Benefits Vacation Allotment A typical day: Coordinate, track, and ensure timely completion of corrective and preventive actions arising from incidents, audits, and non-conformances. Maintain EHS programs, documentation, procedures, records, and compliance with Ontario OHSA and other regulatory requirements. Conduct facility inspections and support compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards. Lead or support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the implementation of effective corrective actions. Develop and deliver EHS training programs, including orientations, WHMIS, emergency response, and contractor safety training. Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), ergonomic assessments, safety reviews, and hazard reporting activities to proactively reduce workplace risks. Support safety culture initiatives through participation in safety committees, emergency preparedness, sustainability programs, industrial hygiene testing, and continuous improvement efforts. Collaborate with employees, supervisors, and management to ensure safe operations, environmental stewardship, food safety compliance, and adherence to company policies and procedures. Successful candidates will have: 2-5 years of experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), with knowledge of workplace safety and environmental compliance programs. Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations, including OHS, machine guarding, and hazard communication requirements. Ability to independently plan, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and deadlines. Excellent presentation and training skills, with the ability to effectively educate and engage employees at all levels. Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective reporting, documentation, and collaboration. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build positive working relationships across departments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications for reporting, tracking, and documentation. High attention to detail and accuracy, supported by a High School Diploma (College Diploma preferred); Train-the-Trainer certification, SQF, and ISO 14001/45001 experience are considered strong assets.
