Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Modularization Layout Specialist in the Engineering consulting industry in Mississauga, Ontario. The Layout Lead – Modularization is a senior technical role responsible for developing and optimizing 3D plant and module layouts for heavy industrial projects. This position leads modularization studies and supports project execution by integrating plant layout, logistics, transportation requirements, and engineering inputs to deliver safe, constructible, and cost-effective modular solutions. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients, the Layout Lead ensures modular designs align with project objectives, execution strategies, and transportation constraints. Total rewards: $130000.00 - $180000.00 annually Build a Rewarding Long-Term Career Work with one of Canada's Top 3 Engineering Firms Pension Benefits A typical day: Create conceptual and detailed layouts using early-stage engineering information, including PFDs and P&IDs. Coordinate closely with piping, mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams to deliver integrated designs. Apply knowledge of plant processes, piping systems, and mechanical equipment to optimize layout solutions. Incorporate transportation, logistics, constructability, and module handling requirements into plant and module designs. Lead the development of innovative 3D plant and module layouts for modularization studies and heavy industrial projects. Evaluate module transportation methods, vessel constraints, and execution strategies to support practical modular solutions. Engage with clients and stakeholders through technical presentations, design reviews, and project coordination activities. Provide technical leadership, mentor junior team members, and ensure project objectives for safety, quality, schedule, and budget are achieved. Successful candidates will have: 10+ years of experience in heavy industrial plant layout and design, with a strong focus on modular facilities. 7+ years of experience using Bentley OpenPlant, 3D MicroStation, or similar 3D plant design software. Proven experience designing mining, minerals processing, oil & gas, and battery metals facilities, including material handling and storage systems. Strong understanding of modular plant design principles, constructability requirements, and interdisciplinary interfaces. Working knowledge of module transportation methods, logistics planning, and equipment constraints. Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, regulations, and engineering best practices. Solid understanding of project execution processes and coordination across multiple engineering disciplines. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team supervision skills, with experience on both greenfield and brownfield projects and proficiency in MS Office applications.
