Role Responsibilities

Are you passionate about shaping the future of education in Alberta? The Resource Development Consultant plays a key role in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality learning and teaching resources that support Alberta’s Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K–12) curriculum. This position contributes to strategic initiatives that ensure resources are current, relevant, and aligned with ministry priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct research and analysis to inform the development and prioritization of curriculum-aligned resources, drawing on current educational research and stakeholder input.
• Manage resource development projects, including permissions, procurement, and coordination with internal teams or external partners through grants and contracts.
• Establish and maintain strong communication and collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the education sector to ensure timely information sharing and issue resolution.
• Support the identification of emerging needs and trends in education to guide resource planning and development.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of resource development processes and participate in strategic initiatives as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support divisional goals.

Diverse partners across provincial school authorities have unique resource needs, which will be supported; not all needs will be met by the province. Qualifications

Master's Degree in a related field plus five years related experience or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus seven years of related experience.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
   
• The successful candidate must have a valid Alberta Permanent Professional Certificate in teaching.
• Bilingualism in English and French is required.

Desirable skills and assets

• Strong project management and organizational skills, with experience managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Knowledge of Alberta’s K–12 education system and relevant legislation (e.g., Education Act).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
• Proficient in research, data analysis, and presenting findings to diverse audiences.
• Skilled in problem solving, decision-making, and applying sound judgment.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams) and other tools such as Adobe Acrobat Pro.
• A Master’s degree in a related field.
• Teaching experience in the Alberta K–12 context.

Note: For professional work related to Communications (e.g. Public Affairs Officer), a directly related diploma is considered equivalent to university graduation in a related field.

Notes

This is a permanent position, and the hours of work are a total of 36.25 hours per week working out of Edmonton.
