Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Principal Electrical Designer in the energy sector in a hybrid work environment in Edmonton, Alberta.
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Electrical Designer to provide technical leadership and oversight on major industrial projects. In this senior role, you will lead the development and delivery of complex electrical design packages across all project phases, while mentoring design teams and collaborating with multidisciplinary stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in large-scale projects and influence design excellence from concept through construction and commissioning.

A typical day:
Lead the development, coordination, and quality review of electrical design deliverables across all project phases
Direct and mentor electrical designers and drafting teams while managing workloads and design reviews
Coordinate electrical design activities with engineering, instrumentation, process, mechanical, piping, and automation teams
Support procurement, construction, and commissioning through technical reviews, vendor coordination, and issue resolution
Ensure compliance with project standards, quality requirements, and change management processes
Identify technical risks, resolve complex design challenges, and provide practical engineering solutions
Requirements:
Demonstrate extensive experience in senior-level electrical design roles on large industrial projects
Possess strong expertise in power distribution, motor control systems, MCCs, VFDs, grounding, lighting, and hazardous area design
Show advanced proficiency developing and reviewing electrical drawings, schematics, layouts, cable systems, and construction packages
Display strong knowledge of electrical design standards, workflows, document control systems, and quality assurance processes
Hold an Engineering Technology, Design, Engineering degree, diploma, or related technical qualification
Maintain eligibility for or hold a professional designation such as APEGA, ASET, or an equivalent certification
