We are currently seeking Casual on Call Security Operations Centre (SOC) Operator to support operations within Calgary International Airport (YYC). This respected, high‑responsibility role is essential in ensuring safety, security, and operational continuity.

About the Role

In this position, SOC Operators work within a centralized control room environment, monitoring security systems, coordinating responses, and providing real‑time intelligence to airport stakeholders. This role also supports the One Stop Security (OSS) program by ensuring sterile corridor integrity and compliant passenger routing within international operations.

SOC Operators are a critical communication and coordination hub, supporting Security, Airport Operations, CPS Air Unit, CATSA, and airline partners during both routine operations and emergency incidents.

Security Monitoring & Surveillance

  • Monitor CCTV systems (Genetec) for suspicious activity, hazards, crowding, and disruptions
  • Conduct routine and targeted video sweeps throughout the terminal
  • Provide camera and intelligence support to Security, Operations, and CPS Air Unit

Access Control & Alarm Response

  • Monitor alarms and access events using Lenel OnGuard
  • Verify access using RAIC credentials and live CCTV
  • Investigate forced doors, held‑open alarms, and unauthorized access
  • Escalate concerns and coordinate appropriate responses

Communications & Dispatch

  • Operate multi‑channel radio and emergency communication systems
  • Dispatch Security, CPS, Operations, EMS, CFD, or partners as required
  • Maintain clear, accurate communications during routine and emergency events

Incident Documentation & Evidence Management

  • Document incidents and dispatch actions in accordance with reporting standards
  • Retrieve and manage CCTV footage while maintaining chain of custody
  • Provide real‑time situational awareness during security, medical, fire, or operational incidents

One Stop Security (OSS) Support

  • Monitor sterile corridors and validate passenger routing
  • Ensure OSS corridor compliance for Gates 84–87 and A11–A14
  • Identify, report, and escalate OSS deviations immediately
  • Coordinate with CATSA, CPS Air Unit, AOC, airline partners, and Security teams

What You Bring

  • Valid Alberta Security License
  • Valid First Aid & CPR Certification
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Driver’s License, Class 5
  • Valid and active Transportation Security Clearance (RAIC)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong observational and decision-making skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain focusing in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience with CCTV, access control, dispatch, or control room operations is considered an asset

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated and attentive for extended periods
  • Ability to process large volumes of visual and auditory information
  • Capacity to respond calmly and effectively during emergency situations
  • Ability to multitask across multiple systems simultaneously

Working Conditions

  • Casual on Call position in a 24/7/365 operational environment
  • Rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Fast-paced, highly regulated airport control room setting
  • Continuous interactions with multiple airport stakeholders during critical incidents
