As Catalogue and Specifications Specialist, you will be responsible for developing the shipyard material catalogue. More specifially, you will: 

  • Develop, organize, and maintain a material catalogue for CAD tools.
  • Select the appropriate material based on our strategy (facilities, procurement, etc.) and project specifications.
  • Ensure the catalogue is up to date and compliant with industry standards or technical specifications from suppliers.
  • Implement and manage version control and update protocols for the catalogue.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of catalogue entries.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and compliance with company standards.
  • Coordinate with engineering and design teams to address any discrepancies or updates needed.
  • Provide support to engineering and design teams on material catalogue usage and tool selection.
  • Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for new users.
  • Address user feedback and implement improvements to enhance user experience.
  • Generate regular reports on catalogue usage and material consumption.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of catalogue management processes and procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years in shipbuilding or a related industry.
  • College diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Good knowledge of engineering processes relevant to shipbuilding.
  • Experience working with CAD tools (asset).
  • Full competence in all MS Office suite products.
  • Ability to work in a confident, self-direct manner while prioritizing a large volume of work.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken). Fluency in English is required for this position, as you will interact with English-speaking suppliers, stakeholders or clients.
  • Successful completion of the security screening process and obtainment of the required security clearance under the Federal Government’s Contract Security Program (minimum of 5 years of residency in Canada, with no interruption of 6 consecutive months).
