Summary

We’re looking for a Software Developer to join our Data Platform Operations team and help shape the automation strategy for our next-generation data platform. In this role, you will design, build, and operate automation solutions that improve reliability, efficiency, observability, and operational scalability across hybrid data platform environments. You will leverage traditional software engineering practices as well as emerging agentic AI capabilities to streamline platform operations, accelerate incident response, enhance self-service capabilities, and support a more proactive operational data strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and operate scalable automation solutions for data platform operations, including workflow automation, platform health checks, remediation scripts, and self-service capabilities.
  • Define and contribute to the automation strategy for the data platform operations team, balancing traditional software engineering approaches with emerging agentic AI patterns.
  • Develop agentic AI capabilities that assist with operational workflows such as incident triage, root-cause analysis, knowledge retrieval, runbook execution, ticket enrichment, and proactive recommendations.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, architecture, security, and data teams to translate operational pain points into reliable software solutions.
  • Contribute to operational data strategy by improving how platform telemetry, logs, metrics, metadata, incidents, and service performance data are captured, modeled, governed, and used for decision-making.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and deployment patterns that support reliable delivery of operational tools and services.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code and configuration automation to improve consistency, repeatability, and auditability across cloud and on-prem platform environments.
  • Improve platform observability by developing dashboards, alerts, data quality checks, and operational insights that help teams detect and resolve issues earlier.
  • Document automation patterns, operational runbooks, AI-assisted workflows, and reusable engineering practices for broader team adoption.
  • Stay current with advancements in software development, platform operations, cloud technologies, data engineering, and responsible AI practices.

Critical Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, ideally in platform engineering, data engineering, DevOps, SRE, or operations-focused environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, with the ability to build reliable, maintainable, production-ready services and automation tools.
  • Experience designing automation for operational workflows, including scripting, API integrations, job orchestration, monitoring, alerting, and remediation patterns.
  • Experience with data platform technologies across cloud and/or on-prem environments, such as Kafka, Airflow, ELK, BigQuery, Dataproc, Dataflow, object storage, or related services.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, source control, automated testing, deployment automation, and release management practices.
  • Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent technologies.
  • Familiarity with agentic AI concepts, large language model integration, prompt orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, tool calling, AI-assisted workflow design, or related development patterns.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building AI agents, copilots, chat-based operational assistants, or autonomous workflow automation for enterprise environments.
  • Experience developing operational analytics, reliability dashboards, or data products that support platform performance, incident management, capacity planning, or cost optimization.
  • Exposure to large-scale data processing frameworks such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or cloud-native data processing services.
  • Google Native certification
