Leads and oversees the Infrastructure Strategy & Architecture team globally within Global Technology & Enterprise Platforms (GTEP), ensuring infrastructure strategies, target-state architectures, standards, patterns, and technology roadmaps are defined and maintained in alignment with business objectives, enterprise architecture principles, regulatory obligations, resilience expectations, and the Bank’s risk appetite.


This role is accountable for defining infrastructure strategy and architectural guardrails across core infrastructure domains. Leads the team responsible for target-state architecture, platform strategy, and standards, enabling consistent, service-based delivery through approved architecture patterns and certified Engineering service offerings, driving technology transformation and roadmap execution.

 


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
• Leads and oversees the Infrastructure Strategy & Architecture team, providing direction, prioritization, and accountability across infrastructure domains
• Builds and develops a high-performing team of domain leads and senior architects through coaching, mentorship, and succession planning
• Establishes clear expectations for architecture quality, standards adherence, and engagement with Solution Architecture, Engineering, and Governance teams
• Drives a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement aligned with the Bank’s values and risk culture
• Owns enterprise-wide infrastructure strategy, target-state architectures, and multi-year roadmaps across infrastructure domains (Network, Data Center, Hosting, Unified Communications, and Enterprise Platforms)
• Drives technology transformation, platform modernization, and simplification aligned to business strategy and enterprise architecture direction
• Translates enterprise strategy into actionable architecture direction for Solution Architecture and Engineering teams
• Leads the definition and lifecycle management of infrastructure standards, reference architectures, patterns, and architectural guardrails
• Drives platform standardization, rationalization, and introduction of new capabilities across infrastructure domains
• Ensures architecture outputs enable consistent consumption of certified Engineering service offerings and approved architecture patterns
• Provides overall architectural authority across infrastructure domains and acts as escalation point for complex decisions and cross-domain conflicts
• Ensures alignment with enterprise architecture, security, identity, data, and compliance requirements
• Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Partners with Architecture Governance & Assurance to support ARB decision-making, exception management, and standards compliance
• Ensures architecture aligns with regulatory requirements, resilience standards, and the Bank’s risk appetite
• Partners with Solution Architecture, Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Security, and Risk teams to ensure alignment between strategy, delivery, and governance
• Ensures domain architecture outputs are consumable, scalable, and aligned with Engineering service offerings
• Drives alignment and influence across a global, matrixed organization to ensure consistent architecture adoption
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 
• Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
 


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
• Leads the Infrastructure Strategy & Architecture function across multiple global infrastructure domains, including Network, Unified Communications, Enterprise Platforms, Data Center, Hosting, Compute, Virtualization, Server OS, Containerization, Database, and Storage technologies.
• Provides leadership to a team of senior architecture resources responsible for target-state architecture, standards, patterns, roadmaps, and platform strategy.
• Influences high-complexity, enterprise-wide infrastructure architecture decisions across global, matrixed technology teams.
• Supports architecture alignment across regulatory, security, resilience, risk, and enterprise governance expectations in a financial services environment. 
• Provides strategic architecture input to major infrastructure transformation initiatives, platform modernization efforts, standards lifecycle decisions, and technology rationalization activities.
• Exercises strategic influence and architectural decision‑making authority with VPs, Heads, Director’s stakeholders within and outside of Technology.
