As the Systems Specialist, you will support the design, development, integration, and testing of the Canadian Coast Guard’s future fleet of six Program Icebreakers. This role will lead systems engineering and change management efforts. . More specifically you will:
• Implement and lead a robust change management culture.
• Assist in the design, development, and testing of engineering solutions.
• Ensure compliance with the Corporate Management System (CMS), safety regulations, and best practices.
• Review and support subcontractor design work.
• Lead and facilitate the review, approval, and prioritization of change requests.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and standards, including the rules and regulations of classification societies, IMO, and Transport Canada.
• Liaise directly with vendors to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
• Engage with all technical disciplines to ensure effective management of technical changes.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Naval Architecture).
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the field of marine engineering or ship design.
• Experience working with the rules and regulations of classification societies and flag states.
• Experience working in a shipyard is considered an asset.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to complete multiple, complex, detail-oriented tasks and projects on time.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
• Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken). Fluency in English is required for this position, as you will interact with English-speaking suppliers, stakeholders or clients
