Digital Risk Engine (DRE) Development and Control Manager will join a centre of excellence team that contributes to the risk management, digital automation, and risk reward optimization of the Canadian Retail Bank by managing and assisting in the technical design, implementation, validation, documentation, and governance of credit risk strategy and policy deployments within Scotiabank’s Canadian credit decision platforms. The candidate will be expected to work closely with portfolio risk strategy/policy teams, centre of excellence teams, and functional teams across first line and second line of defence. In addition, the candidate will be expected to drive continuous improvement in technology design, deployment/testing techniques, operating processes, and best practices around technical system usage, in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Drive digital risk automation through integration of modern digital risk technology and client
  • centric policy design
  • Obtain subject matter experts in risk technology design, deployments, testing, validation
  • processes across the retail footprint, especially using FICO DMP suites of software
  • Ensure strict adherence to deployment, testing, documentation, and release management processes, and provide effective challenge to key stakeholders where required
  • Maintain current and in-depth knowledge of retail lending policies and strategies across all Canadian retail products
  • Support the design and execution of retail lending technology and policy roadmap
  • Continuously leverage new toolsets and techniques in day-to-day responsibilities
  • Assist in credit decision platform data inquires and ad-hoc requests using standard database techniques (SQL, noSQL etc.)
  • Act as change champion to transform retail risk operating model in second line of defence by promoting best practices on application of new technologies
  • Work with stakeholders (e.g. Front-end technology teams, IT, business line owners, fraud, retail risk teams, PAE, governance, ACE, RSC etc.) to ensure solutions provide optimum customer journeys and support business line objectives
  • Support the team in accomplishing multiple and occasionally competing priorities
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with
  • Scotiabank’s Values, our ScotiaBond, our Code of Conduct and vendor management policies while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • A university degree is required (preferably a major with computer science, engineering economics, finance, or business)
  • 2+ years in retail lending, technology, or risk management experience required
  • Experience in FICO based technologies such as Originations Manager, Triad, Decision
  • Modeler, Blaze etc. is a strong asset
  • Strong technical skills in database and analytics, and testing tools such as SAS, SQL, MongoDB, Tableau, Power BI, XML and Postman; experience with non-relational databases and working knowledge of programming languages such as NodeJS, python, Java etc. is a strong asset
  • Excellent communication and business writing skills complemented with solid logical/deductive
  • reasoning, sound judgement and creativity
  • Strong personal time management skills and curiosity to learn, explore, and discover is a must
  • Functional knowledge of retail credit risk lifecycles, credit and behaviour scoring, credit risk model designs and applications
  • Familiarity with project management techniques and agile working framework is an asset
