Registered Veterinary Technologist Location: Edmonton, AB Employment Type: Part Time Department: Emergency Schedule: This schedule will include evenings and weekends Guardian Veterinary Centre is looking for a compassionate and motivated Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) to join our team of skilled veterinary professionals on a part-time basis. While we're part of a larger network, we pride ourselves on maintaining a supportive, community-focused culture where mentorship, collaboration, and ongoing professional development are priorities. New graduates and RVTs who are new to emergency medicine are encouraged to apply. You do not require previous emergency experience to be successful at Guardian. We're looking for someone with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a passion for patient care. Emergency medicine can seem intimidating, but our experienced team loves to teach, mentor, and help the right candidate build confidence and develop new skills in a supportive environment. Key Responsibilities and Qualifications Have completed a Veterinary Technologist or Animal Health Technologist program and be eligible for licensure in the province of Alberta. Demonstrate proficiency in surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, and patient recovery. Maintain detailed and accurate medical records. Provide compassionate, high-quality care to hospitalized patients while supporting and communicating with their pet parents. Thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple priorities. Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and ask thoughtful questions when clarification is needed. Build positive relationships with colleagues and clients through exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Be eager to continue learning and growing within the role. Have a genuine passion for companion animal medicine and patient care. About the Role This position primarily supports our outpatient team and is ideal for an RVT who enjoys working in a fast paced environment. The schedule includes evening and weekend shifts, in order to support our emergency service hours. Cross-training in other areas of the hospital is encouraged, giving every RVT the opportunity to work within their full scope of practice, expand their clinical skills, and gain a well-rounded understanding of our hospital.
