The Director, Canadian Wealth Management Business Initiatives, is accountable for leading and delivering cross–line of business strategic initiatives across ScotiaMcLeod, MD Financial Management, and SJF. Acting as the central business owner across multiple wealth platforms, this role acts as a business SME in collaboration with business line representatives and partners with Product Owners, and technology and enterprise partners to ensure solutions align to shared business objectives, client needs, and the Bank’s strategic direction. This role drives measurable business outcomes by translating strategy into action through rigorous analysis, strong business judgment, clear prioritization, and disciplined execution.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: 

 

 

  • Lead and execute Canadian Wealth Management strategic initiatives and cross LOB priorities aligned to enterprise and Bank direction.
  • Serve as the consolidated business sponsor for initiatives that span multiple wealth businesses, ensuring alignment, clarity of outcomes, and delivery accountability.
  • Ensure strategies and business initiatives translate into tangible improvements in client and advisor experiences and support sustainable business growth.
  • Partner closely with business line SMEs, Regional and Branch Leaders, and front office teams to identify opportunities, understand evolving needs, and champion initiatives that drive growth.
  • Synthesize diverse business perspectives into clear, prioritized requirements and represent these to Product Owners, Technology, and delivery teams.
  • Act as the primary business interface to Product Owners for cross CWM initiatives, ensuring solutions are business led, client centric, consistent and scalable.
  • Provide business subject matter expertise to inform client and advisor journey design, roadmap prioritization, and delivery trade offs.
  • Lead cross functional delivery aligned to journey level OKRs with a focus on clear milestones, dependency management, and outcome measurement
  • Ensure initiatives are executed in alignment with the Bank’s risk appetite, risk culture, and governance expectations.
  • Champion a client  and advisor focused culture that supports transformational change.
  • Foster a high performance, inclusive working environment that enables effective collaboration across business, product, and technology teams.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university; graduate degree or professional designation (e.g., CFA, MBA) considered an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in the wealth management industry with deep business, field and regulatory knowledge of the full-service brokerage and investment council business models
  • Demonstrated success leading medium  to large scale, cross line of business initiatives, delivering measurable outcomes in complex, matrixed environments.
    Strong strategic and analytical capability, with the ability to identify business issues and opportunities, assess impacts, and translate insights into practical, actionable solutions.
  • Proven experience partnering with senior stakeholders to set priorities, negotiate trade offs, and solve complex business problems under tight timelines.
  • Advanced leadership, organizational, and project management skills, with a track record of driving execution across multiple teams and dependencies.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including the ability to distill complex concepts and articulate strategy clearly to executive, business, product, and technology audiences.
  • Solid understanding of the regulatory environment shaping the design and delivery of wealth management products and services, and the ability to embed regulatory considerations into business decisions.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including developing talent, leading change, and building strong, trust based relationships with teams and cross functional partners.
