The Manager, Domestic Money Movements reports to the Director, Money Movement Products and is part of the Retail Banking Payments Products team.

 

 

This role will be responsible for the management of one or more retail core payments products for Canadian Banking. Core Payments money movement services include e-Transfer, Debit, Retail Bill Pay and Account Transfers.

 

 

You’ll bring a strong understanding of customer needs, market trends, and payments capabilities to define problems worth solving and deliver product outcomes that simplify how clients move money. Ensures business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. 

 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Product Strategy & Planning
    • Assist in development and analysis of strategic product roadmaps, product enhancement and development to gain maximum benefit from each product.
    • Lead ongoing competitive and market intelligence efforts by monitoring industry trends, benchmarking against competitors, and translating insights into actionable product strategy and roadmap decision
    • Support business cases development to secure funding for new initiatives
  • Product Management
    • Participate in day-to-day product management for core products such as product delivery, client experience, and client communication strategies as well as help the team prioritize, negotiate, and remove obstacles to achieve business results
    • Build strong partnerships with key stakeholders (technology, digital, fraud, AML, Day to Day) to unblock implementation challenges and clarify trade-offs.
    • Partner with analytics to define, measure, and analyze KPIs for new and enhanced features, translating results into product decisions.
    • Contribute to achievement of acquisition targets, product financial performance, revenue performance, and expense management goals as well as oversee identification and execution of opportunities and gaps business plans
    • Own and drive key business metrics for money movement services
  • Drives customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.  

 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Undergraduate education in business or finance-related fields, MBA an asset
  • 3+ years of experience in payments, product management, strategy or consulting (considered an asset)
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive experiences in payments space (Canada and/or global), including knowledge of payment rails, digital money movement journeys, as well payments regulations, fraud, and AML considerations
  • Thrive in a fast-paced challenging business environment and consistently deliver results despite ambiguity and competing priorities
  • Demonstrate the ability to translate strategy and concepts into execution - from market insight and opportunity framing through planning and delivery
  • Ability to influence without authority, facilitate productive group problem solving, synthesize insights through strong critical / analytical thinking, and demonstrate exceptional planning skills
  • Bring exceptional written and presentation skills, and the ability to create high quality materials (strategy decks, business cases, plans, dashboards) that support senior decision making
  • Highly proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) with a strong focus on structured storytelling and insight driven reporting

Working Conditions

  • This role is located at our downtown Toronto, ON, Canada office. Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours may be required to meet business objectives. Limited travel required.
