The Role

As Manager, Collateral Operations, you will lead and oversee critical collateral management activities supporting securities lending across the Scotia Group. This includes partnering with teams across Scotia Capital USA, Prime Services, Wealth & Group Treasury, and Collateral Management & Funding to ensure accurate, timely, and risk-controlled execution of daily operations.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Collateral Operations team, driving strong standards for accuracy, service, and control
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex issues, providing guidance on process interpretation and resolution
  • Oversee daily collateral workflows across bilateral and triparty arrangements, including margining, settlements, and reconciliations
  • Ensure exposures are accurately monitored and collateral coverage requirements are consistently met
  • Manage workflow distribution, capacity planning, and operational priorities to ensure efficient execution
  • Review exception reporting, exposure metrics, and operational KPIs to identify risks and improvement opportunities
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including process enhancements and SOP updates aligned with best practices
  • Support and lead cross-functional projects, including system enhancements and process changes
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, custodians, and counterparties to resolve issues efficiently
  • Ensure adherence to collateral guidelines, internal controls, and U.S./Canadian regulatory requirements
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to mitigate operational risk
  • Oversee funding requirements and ensure accurate movement of cash and securities across depositories

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Proven experience in collateral management and securities lending operations, including margining and exposure reconciliation across bilateral and triparty structures
  • Strong understanding of securities lending workflows, collateralization practices, and operational risk controls
  • Working knowledge of U.S. and Canadian regulatory frameworks related to collateral and securities lending
  • Hands-on experience with industry platforms such as Pirum, EquiLend, and SBL systems (e.g., Loanet, Gloss, Global One, Loan One, Paramax, Escape, Anvil)
  • Familiarity with triparty agents and custodians (e.g., BNY Mellon, JPMorgan) and depositories (e.g., CDS, DTCC, BNY Fed)
  • Experience leveraging data and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Python) to support analysis and automation
  • Prior people management experience, with the ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on process improvement and risk mitigation
